Home Front Outdoor Play
Extremely Poor Workmanship and No Aftercare – Deeply Disappointed We run a community centre that supports vulnerable families and children every day. We needed safe rubber mulch flooring outdoors so the children could play safely. After securing £3,500 in funding from our local council, we began gathering quotes. We decided to go with Homefront Outdoor Play after a representative, Josh, visited our centre and made a very positive impression. The quoted cost was over £9,000, which was well above our budget, but we were reassured when Josh told us they “don’t cut corners” and that the work would be completed “to the highest standard.” The work took place in July 2024, when three workers arrived who did not appear to have any formal qualifications. During the job, they ran out of rubber mulch and were gone for several hours to get more. When I returned later, the work was complete — and it was shockingly poor: • The mulch had been laid directly over grass, with no drainage layer, despite this being included in the quote. • The edges were unfinished and not joined properly. • The surface colour was inconsistent, even though we were promised a uniform black finish. • The flooring lifted up easily and was unsafe for children to use. A tradesman from our local council inspected it and confirmed it was a botched job. Since then, I have called and emailed Homefront Outdoor Play many times asking them to return and fix the work. They have ignored every message and phone call. This experience has been extremely upsetting. Our charity has been taken advantage of, and the children still don’t have a safe place to play — despite the trust and money we placed in this company. I would strongly advise others, especially community groups or schools, to think very carefully before using Homefront Outdoor Play. In our experience, their promises of quality and professionalism were not reflected in the work delivered.
