Young Vibes
I have been on the Young Vibes programme with my daughter for around 12 weeks. At the time of joining she was really struggling to go into school and we had been going round in circles for around a year but not really ever getting to the heart of it. When I joined the programme I was a little unsure (as I think every one is) but the lady I first spoke to really hit home with me and I knew that counselling had not done anything. Initially it takes a little while to get used to how you learn but if you go with it, the videos and zoom sessions makes so much sense. We took the pressure off and then reset everything which was actually very empowering. We received advice on how to manage the school which thankfully they were really supportive with, as they realised we were all trying to achieve the same thing. My daughter wanted to be in school but was feeling so anxious she just couldn't go in. Once I had done my parts of the course we moved onto hers and after completing them she started a phased return to school. The course seems obvious in its content at times but helps address the huge shift that parenting has seen over the past few decades. Taking me back to basics and giving me a 'toolkit' if you like of methods to work with my daughter on. It won't create a perfect solution (these are teenagers after all) but both my daughter and I are glad we have completed the programme and are building on the new foundations we have created. She never wanted to home school, but she did need some support and rethinking about how to attend school. No programme is perfect but I have no regrets having followed this and have learnt so much.
