The Jupiter 200 Upgrades Magnetic Level Indicator

14 July 2008

Magnetrol's Jpuiter 2000 is simple to mount externally and ready to use.

Magnetrol’s Jupiter 200 will enhance a magnetic level indicator (MLI) simply  by clamping the Jupiter 200 magnetostrictive level transmitter onto its by-pass cage. No modification is needed and the installation can take place under process conditions.

The Jupiter 200 by Magnetrol relies on the electro-magnetic field of the float inside the by-pass cage of the MLI to determine the liquid level. A high frequency signal is then released over the Jupiter’s probe (maximum length 5,7m;
 longer at request). The magnetostrictive wire twists at the position of the float and the  mechanical motion sends an acoustic signal that will be picked up by the piezo crystal inside
the transmitters’ head. The measurement of the transit time- between sending and receiving the signal- results in a very accurate level measurement (± 0,4mm) and since the signal
has not lost any amplitude, it is capable of tracking a second float position (liquid interface) with the same accuracy.

When needed, the Jupiter’s sensitivity and float polarity can be adjusted to the used float type via its menu. To eliminate all risks, Magnetrol will perform a quick and easy test procedure.

HART®/AMS or FOUNDATION fieldbus™ protocol enables the user to remotely configure the unit, monitor the measurement, identify malfunctions and realize realize
effective troubleshooting. The unit   retains a history of events since its last reset.  PACTware-FDT technology and device specific DTM’s simplifies this even more
over your PC/laptop. The graphical display of the waveform and trending curves contain valuable troubleshooting information.

Externally mounted, the Jupiter is not affected by process pressure. The device can handle process temperatures ranging from -196°C up to +455°C.
With a SFF of 90,70%, the Jupiter is suitable for use on SIL 2 loops (as 1oo1).
