Plumb Center set to create commercial centres of excellence

18 May 2009

A new commercial team has been formed at Plumb Center as part of a strategy to increase its' commercial plumbing sales and raise the profile of its commercial plumbing services.

The team will be headed by Development Director, Richard Virr, who has worked for the Wolseley group for more than 30 years.

With plans for around 38 commercial plumbing centres of excellence, located in carefully selected Plumb Centers across the UK, commercial plumbing companies will be able to find everything they need under one roof.  These centres of excellence will be rolled out throughout 2009.

Each centre of excellence will have a dedicated commercial stock holding. Staff will be up-to-date with the current standards and regulations and fully trained to support the needs of the commercial plumbing customer.  In addition, there is a team of people working behind the scenes, liaising with the industrys' major suppliers to ensure the latest and most innovative, quality products are available at competitive prices, either in branch or on-line 24/7. Therefore, commercial plumbers undertaking contract, maintenance, installation and emergency cover work will always have access to the best possible range of products and expert technical product advice.

“The needs of the commercial plumbing business and the skills required to service those needs are different to the domestic market and we want to ensure that Plumb Centers' commercial centres of excellence are able to meet and exceed those needs", said Development Director, Richard Virr.  “We are creating a network of branches that will have the resources, both in terms of stock holding and staff skill levels, to help our commercial plumbing customers get the job done, on time and on budget".

There will also be a team of experienced estimators, located across the UK, who will be on hand to provide technical and practical advice to Plumb Centers' commercial customers.  They will prepare quotations for tendering purposes, working from architects plans and specifications or a bill of quantities.

Richard added: “We want to help our commercial customers win more business. Our estimators, who are experts in their field, and fully conversant with the current standards and regulations required to provide safe and reliable systems whatever the application, will help customers to submit a professional, comprehensive and accurate tender document".
