Gigabit switches launched for high volume data newtorks

02 July 2009

Gigabit backbones are increasingly becoming standard in industrial networks. The new gigabit-ready switch generation from Weidmuller ensures reliable coupling of the fast Ethernet machine networks to a gigabit backbone.

Two gigabit-ready uplinks – suitable for both star as well as linear topologies – are available for this purpose. The two gigabit SFP (small form-factor pluggable) slots offer maximum flexibility here. Weidmuller offers a wide spectrum of various pluggable SFP transceivers with LC connector technology. These range from the multimode variations for ranges of up to 2km to single mode solutions that can be used for maximum line lengths of 120km. Variations are also available with 2 RJ45 or 2 SC fibre gigabit uplinks each. Also available as SFP variation. SFPs (small form-factor pluggable) offer maximum flexibility when using fibre transceivers.

  • Extended temperature range –40 °C … +75 °C
  • Redundant voltage supply
  • High data volumes
  • Optimal for use in networks with high data traffic
  • PoE Injector
  • Flexible Power over Ethernet (PoE) solution with Weidmüller 4-way PoE Injector
  • No separate 48 V voltage source necessary
  • Flexible use of PoE
  • High component density thanks to 4-way injector solution
  • Not bound to the switch
  • Well suited for retrofitting existing systems
