We operate nationwide from over 200 gritting teams and depot locations, from which we deploy our fleet of salt spreaders and winter gritting lorries. Working with local teams, we are permanently close by, at your service whatever the weather. Being local, helps us reduce our carbon footprint.

Our proactive service ensures that your site has a winter maintenance plan, which is necessary to ensure your business stays safe and open through the winter. Service is triggered based on the weather forecast for road conditions.

We apply salt before frost, ice, or snowfall forms. This activates the salt to prevent bonding with the road surface.

All visits are reported on our bespoke portal, TotalView. This Queens Award-winning technology includes vehicle tracking and gives clients complete transparency of our work in real-time. This evidence is essential for both ensuring quality and providing evidence in the unlikely event of a legal claim.

We store more than 50,000 tonnes of salt stock for winter gritting, providing 20 days’ worth of salt stock at all of our depots. We have additional emergency salt stored at locations nationally in the event of prolonged periods of cold or icy weather conditions.

Other winter gritting services we provide include supplying grit bins (and replenishments), snow shovels, and, on request, salt orders.

I have worked at Ground Control for over 15 years and have always been treated well with investment made in regards to training/courses. The company is very forward thinking and has expanded/grown during my time with the business which is great to see, providing new opportunities and keen to promote from within as well as bring in new employees for a fresh approach. The direction now is one of "caring for the environment" and one they take very seriously with ambitious plans in regards to tree planting.
