Manchester Communication Academy takes cover with Canopies UK

Canopies UK has carried out a double canopy installation for the newly-built Manchester Communication Academy.
As the country's leading supplier of outdoor canopies for the education sector, Canopies UK has installed thousands nationwide for schools keen to develop the potential of their outdoor space.The Academy called in Canopies UK to install two large canopies over an outdoor seating area, in order for this valuable space to be utilised more effectively as a covered eating, recreational or teaching area. This is a move mirrored by many British schools, with OFSTED and the 'Every Child Matters' Manifesto strongly promoting outdoor learning.
The Academy's Facilities Manager made an appointment with the Canopies UK sales team, which was followed up with a site survey.
At the company's Darwen-based production facility, in-house Structural Engineers designed the canopies to EN1991-1-3:2003 (the industry standard for wind and snow loading) before they were transported and installed by the specialist installation team.
MD Elaine Morris explains: “Canopies UK was contracted for this project because we were able to offer the high-spec products required, within the Academy's budget. The client was delighted that the installation was completed in just three days, meaning minimal disruption for staff and pupils.
“We have specialised in canopies for education for several years, so we know exactly what is required to ensure a project runs smoothly: we can take care of all relevant site calculations, building regulations, planning, health and safety requirements and surveys. All of our installation teams are employed by the company and are CRB checked.
“Our canopies provide valuable year-round shelter against the elements and in the hot summer months, they will protect students from sun-related skin damage thanks to a Melinex gel coating which acts as a translucent UV filter.”
