Latest news from HB Designs

Lockdown provided the ideal opportunity for us to focus on our new compact sports stadia, The H-B 4-TIER.

18 May 2021

We started to develop the designs and capability of our new small sports stadia in March 2020, and despite all the curveballs of the COVID-19 pandemic, furloughs, temporary office closures and endless supply chain challenges, one year on, we have completed our fabulous new 4-TIER seated stadia installation ready for the recommencement of sporting activities as restrictions ease.

The process to design a new sports stadia that meets the Green Guide for sports spectator safety standards, structural engineering and still retain affordability through smart, environmentally conscious material choices was no walk in the park. The designs and redesigns number many, toing and froing back to the drawing board, both pencil and paper and computer-aided over many months. Consideration of the assembly of large components on-site, where access is often restricted and manpower limited, necessitated sub-assembly parts to be designed as manageable weights. Designing interchangeable cladding, which would incorporate club branding and sponsor details and protect spectators from inclement weather, all at an affordable cost and that could be recycled, was key.

Finally, the H-B Designs 4-TIER Small Sport Stadia was complete and ready to sell.

For the very first 4-TIER, we worked effectively with fabrication experts, Duncan Lynch Precision Engineering on the first structure and installation, combining our skills to ensure an outstanding result the first time.

The first project was for RAMS Rugby Club in Reading. The club now has a modified 4-TIER structure with the gangways set optimally and 272 spectator seats.

Four special press seats with tablet tables have been fitted in the centre back row.

The structure was raised around the existing pitchside infrastructure and designed to fit between the new pitch floodlights.

There is an impressive high impact graphic along the panels facing the training ground, showing players in action and the main club sponsors logo. More sponsors and the club colours are promoted behind the upper row of seats within the stand, clearly visible from the car park and pitch.
