About us

Weighing Scales Ltd was established by John Gannon and Janet Marsden in 2006. Having worked in the scale industry we knew we knew that we could do better than the existing scale market’s poor service to customers.

Starting with a bank loan, an old van, a set of traceable weights, a PC and Janet’s dining room table was all it took to form the company. That first year was a bit of a hard slog but what we lacked in finance we made up for with dedication and an unshakeable belief in our eventual success.

The saying goes: “Great oaks from little acorns grow” and Weighing Scales Ltd has florished 20% year on year from its initial foundation. Our achievements include being awarded the new start ‘Business of the Year 2007’ and a prosperous buyout of Adlab Services Ltd, a company specialising in the service and calibration of balances and microscopes in colleges and universities. We gained ISO 9001 certification in 2013 and moved into our new premises with a testing facility in 2015. In 2017, we gained the new ISO 9001:2015 certification.

In June 2018, Janet retired from Weighing Scales. There was no one better than our leading engineer, Daniel Wilmore, to take over from Janet’s reins and help with the running of the business, so Dan came on board.

Weighing Scales Ltd continued to service customers with key worker status during the Covid-19 pandemic and went on to record our most lucrative year of growth since 2006!

We give exemplary service to hundreds of clients in the UK and retain 99% of our contract client year on year, all due to our excellent service. We have expanded our services to include temperature and humidity testing and we look forward to a prosperous tomorrow. We welcome you to join us in our story.
