More Kubota Tractors for top Dublin Golf Club

27 May 2009

Elm Park Golf & Sports Club in Dublin has expanded its' Kubota equipment fleet with the purchase of a second STV36 compact tractor and an L5740 mid-range tractor.

The club, at Donnybrook, was founded in 1924 and is one of the best known in the capital. It provides a range of facilities that include an 18-hole golf course, seven grass tennis courts plus seven all-weather floodlit courts, a driving range and an 18-hole putting green.

Its' new Kubota STV36 compact tractor joins an identical machine bought in 2006, both of which are used to carry out a variety of tasks to keep the clubs' golf greens in tip top condition. Jobs undertaken range from aerating the greens and top dressing to brushing and blowing them, using a variety of attachments.

Mark Sheridan, the sports clubs' course superintendent, said: "We decided to buy a second Kubota compact tractor because we were so pleased with the performance and reliability of the first one."

The hugely popular and proven Kubota STV Series tractors are renowned for their superb versatility. The STV36 features an independent PTO, cruise control, high capacity transmission, power steering and Kubotas' accelerator auto throttle system. The cabin provides a wide operator deck, a deluxe wide seat and 360 degree visibility, with well-placed operating controls and low noise and vibration levels to give complete operator comfort.

Elm Parks' larger, cabbed GL5740 mid-size tractor is fitted with a front loader and pallet forks. The 58hp machine does complementary work to the smaller tractors, both on the golf course and around the 91 acre site. This includes spraying the fairways, rough mowing and pulling a rotary mower. It's also regularly called on for general maintenance duties which entail fetching and carrying tools, equipment and materials.

It replaces a veteran 22-year-old Kubota tractor that has given sterling work over the years and has been kept on to pull trailers during busy periods.

The GL40 Series is a versatile range, boasting high power-to-weight ratio and a choice of several variants to suit every application. Equipped with the latest Kubota E-TVCS low emission diesel engine, they are among the cleanest on the market.

Delivering unrivalled power output and complying with Stage IIIA European Emission regulations, these state-of-the-art engines are low on fuel consumption and noise and vibration, enhancing both operator comfort and overall productivity.

"We have used several other makes of tractors but the Kubota machines are by far the most trouble free machines we have had to date," said Mr Sheridan. "They have given us no problems at all despite working like trojans."

The club carries out all its own equipment maintenance and it was the strongly held view of its mechanic that Kubota machines were the simplest and easiest to service that clinched the managements' decision to move towards an all-Kubota fleet.

"Both the compact and the mid-range Kubota tractors represent the most cost-effective way for us to get the power we need to carry out the various groundcare tasks that need tackling with the minimum of effort," said Mr Sheridan

The two latest machines were supplied by local Kubota Tractor & Groundcare equipment dealer Irish Grass Machinery, which has recently moved into larger premises in Ballycoolin, Blanchardstown, Dublin.

As the market-leading manufacture of compact tractors and diesel ride-on mowers and the global leader in the sub 50hp tractor sector, Kubota machines have a legendary reputation for quality, performance, reliability and outstanding value-for-money, and a national network of Kubota tractor and groundcare dealers, such as Irish Grass Machinery, provides the highest standards of advice and aftersales service.
