New Stanley Concealed Bearing Hinges from Relcross are guaranteed for life

27 November 2009

Hardware and washroom specialist Relcross have launched a range of Concealed Bearing Mortice Hinges manufactured by Stanley.

The secret of the new hinges, designated CB1960R and CB1961R, is the revolutionary Lifestan® bearings which eliminates metal to metal contact between knuckles by creating its own bearing surface between the washer and the sleeve. As the stainless steel washer extends into the sleeve, it eliminates metal to metal contact between the pin and barrel resulting in a smooth, quiet operation that Relcross claim is superior to that of a ball bearing assembly.

In consequence, both the vertical and lateral wear performance exceeds the requirements of BS EN 1935:2002 The CB1960R is a Grade 13, CE marked hinge suitable for fire doors and fire escape doors. It is Certifire approved and can be fitted to doors at least 44 mm thick and up to 68 kg in weight (unadjusted) or up to 120 kg including the weight of the door closer and assuming the closer has a back check feature.

The CB1961R is the heavy duty version, not CE marked but suitable for 54 mm thick non-fire doors up to 100 kg unadjusted weight or 175 kg including the closer. Both versions are available in either polished brass, polished stainless steel or satin stainless steel finishes. Additional options include Hospital Tips, Non-removable Pins, Radius Corners and Security Studs.

Sales Director Stuart McMaster said;

“Any door is only as good as the hinges used to mount it and too often either poor specification or excessive maintenance requirements leave owners with ongoing problems that can be extremely irritating and ridiculously expensive. These new Stanley hinges are maintenance free meaning no oil, no grease and no lubrication. They are also warranted for the lifetime of the building.”
