Contour “capp’s it off” for NHS Trust

23 June 2011

The ingress of water through roof structures can cause considerable damage to building interiors, resulting in spiralling maintenance costs and a gradually degrading visual appearance.

Black Country Partnership NHS Foundation Trust, based at Delta Point in West Bromwich, encountered this problem and sought a cost-effective, yet professional solution.

The solution was provided by the design team at Shropshire-based specialist roofline product manufacturer, Contour Casings Ltd.
Consultants from Contour conducted a specialist site survey and identified that the problem could be eradicated by installing Contours’ innovative Wall Capping System.

Michael Kennedy, Trust Estates Manager, said,  “The building was experiencing an ingress of water due to poor existing coping detail, allowing water to track below the roof finish and into the building. We had worked effectively with Contour on a number of other projects, their design team recommended Contour’s Wall Capping product as a solution, and this proved significantly cheaper than alternative traditional methods of remedying the source of the ingress”.
“The wall capping system ensured that all surface water drained on to the roof deck, thus preventing the water from penetrating the coping detail and into the cavity”.

“Health and Safety requirements are paramount to the Trust, all parties worked closely together to deliver an efficient and safe installation which immediately solved the problem”.

The “All-Aluminium” Wall Capping System has been designed by Contour to produce a high-quality finish to all types of walls and parapets, combining exceptional performance with a professional finish. Incorporating a number of outstanding features, including wind-testing, anti-corrosion, weather-sealing gaskets and “invisible” fixings, the Wall Capping System is a complete turnkey solution which can be “bespoked” to compliment any building construction or specific requirement.

Leigh Simpson, Managing Director at Contour Casings, said, “By merging our specialist knowledge with industry expertise, we have developed a product that provides an effective and economical solution to the problem of water ingress through roof structures.

Our design, manufacture and installation teams work closely with the client, managing the project from start to finish and producing a bespoke product which satisfies all of the scheme criteria”.
