Tile on Tile with Prime IT N

Renowned Ultra Floor primer, Prime IT N has been used by Ceramica Fix Ltd. When tiling a new Citroen garage showroom in Northampton.

Contracted to fix porcelain floor tiles throughout the showroom refurbishment, Ceramica Fix Ltd. used Ultra Tile ProFlex SP adhesive and FlexJoint grout.

Some floor areas still had existing tiles in place that had to be tiled onto. Polymer emulsion primer, Ultra Floor Prime IT N prepares non-porous substrates sufficiently to enable tile on tile installations, therefore it provided the perfect solution for Ceramica Fix Ltd.

On dense and impervious substrates, such as existing tiles, it is beneficial to use a bonding primer to enhance the adhesion of the tile to the substrate. Prime IT N is available in 5ltr bottles and should be applied neat with a brush or roller to the surface. Coverage of up to 50m² can be achieved per bottle.

Tiling was completed using one of Ultra Tile’s best selling cementitious adhesives, ProFlex SP. A single part product, polymer modified for increased bond strength and enhanced performance. The adhesive allows a 40 minute pot life and for grouting to begin after 2.5 hours. ProFlex SP has recently been given a makeover; look out for the product in its forthcoming flashy bag! Due to the product’s popularity and for job suitability, 5kg, 10kg and 20kg bag sizes are all available.

To provide a designer style finish, Ultra Tile FlexJoint was used to grout all floor joints. The product boasts the following characteristics:

  • A super fine texture
  • Polymer modified for ultimate flexibility
  • Totally mould resistant
  • Perfectly water repellent
  • Suitable for use with under floor heating
  • For joints widths from 1-20mm

FlexJoint is available in a choice of colours: white, cream, limestone, sandstone, chocolate, grey and anthracite.

The new Citroen garage is the latest site and car brand to be added to the family owned by Richard Sanders Ltd. franchise, previously consisting of Honda, Peugeot, Nissan and Renault. Work on the refurbishment project completed earlier this year with the group welcoming Linda Jackson, managing director of Citroen UK to open the showroom with Richard Sanders.
