Loading bay equipment for the new ASOS.com nationwide distribution centre has been provided and installed by Hörmann UK. ASOS.com is one of the fastest growing online fashion retailers in the United Kingdom offering an extensive range of men''s and women''s clothing, accessories and beauty brands.

The E-tailer has signed a lease for a 158,000 sq ft distribution centre built by ProLogis, the leading provider of land and distribution space in the UK and Europe. The site in Hemel Hempstead is situated on the M1 motorway and provides the perfect location for serving customers throughout the country.

High quality loading bay equipment is essential to the smooth running of a distribution operation of this size. Hörmann supplied and installed 14 standard flap dock shelters and loading bay doors. Hörmann’s flap dock shelters adapt to all vehicle sizes and the high-grade head and side flaps are mounted on a galvanized, press-in frame, to produce a stable, flexible and tear-resistant construction.

Hörmann also installed 14 hinged lip dock levellers which are the ideal solution for heavy goods being loaded and unloaded. The hinges are generously sized and particularly strong. An open design ensures the lip hinges do not get clogged up with dirt or debris.

Specified extras for the 15 loading bays included traffic and loading lights, which help to make the entire process easier for the drivers and staff. Dock buffers were also included to help avoid any damage to docking vehicles.
