AstroSport Resurface Synthetic Grass Hockey Pitch

It''s all buzz at the "Bees" following the completion of the resurfacing of their old sand filled hockey pitch.

Local company- AstroSport were employed by Highfields Sports Club, home to Beeston Hockey club to undertake the resurfacing project which was completed at the beginning of May despite dreadful weather conditions throughout April.

The new surface installed by AstroSport is the Hockey Revolution manufactured by Lano Sports of Belgium.  Hockey Revolution, the latest generation of sand dressed synthetic grass surface is manufactured with a curled monofilament yarn ensuring a fast, true ball roll for the players.

David Griffiths, Chairman of Highfields Sports Club commented "This project would not have been possible without the support and funding from England Hockey Board and The National Hockey Foundation. With this support have managed to provide all of our users a top quality pitch. David added, "We employed AstroSport to carry out the resurfacing project as they provided us with expert advice regarding surface choice and other technical issues surrounding this project during the procurement and evaluation process. Also, we like to be able to support local businesses wherever possible. The project was very well managed and it is pleasing to see in this day and age almost all of the operations were carried out by AstroSport staff".

The pitch was opened by project partners, Alex Teasdale, from England Hockey Board and Tony Billson from the National Hockey Foundation. In attendance was Great Britain goalkeeper, George Pinner.

Beeston H.C. then celebrated 20 years of National League hockey with an exhibition match against former players who played in the European Cup Winners squad of 1999. The current Beeston team won the game 6-3. Beeston and Nottingham Players HC rounded off the day with a thrilling mixed hockey match which ended in a 3-3 draw. All the players involved in the event praised the new surface which is a state-of-the-art pitch which plays like a water based pitch. Tony Dockerill, Nottingham Players HC Chairman stated, "The new pitch is wonderful, our players are delighted with the quality of the new surface"
