Roofing Repairs
It’s never more obvious that your roof needs repairing than when it’s pouring with rain! It’s important that these repairs are identified and rectified as quickly as possible, as serious and costly damage to your premises can occur.
Things to consider are whether a whole or partial roof repair is needed, how to prepare the area for repair and most importantly, what the best product to use is.Roofite is a mixture of bitumen, rubber and fibre that can seal small leaks quickly and can be used on concrete, corrugated iron and tiled or felted roofs.
If you are using Roofite and the surface you are applying it to is very porous, prime the dry surface with Roofite diluted with 25% white spirit.
Watco Scrim Ideal for bridging splits, cracks and holes. Set the scrim into a base of Roofite then immediately recoat to make it water tight.
Liquid Roof Membrane is designed to protect flat and pitched roofs. It can be applied around existing pipe work and protrusions. It is reinforced with fibre to protect these areas, as the leakage risk here is high.
There is often a safety issue on roofs, which can be addressed by using anti-slip surfaces and matting.
Watco have created three anti-slip coatings to help prevent slip and falls on flat roofs.
Roofsafe is an immediately water repellent coating which provides a slip resistant surface for walkways and roofs.
Anti-Slip Roof Membrane is a coarse, slip resistant, cold applied tough liquid membrane to seal roofs.
Balcony Coating System provides a flexible, hard wearing and slip resistant surface finish to balconies and walkways, whilst also protecting around pipes, rainwater outlets and protrusions.
Watco Waterproof Membrane can be used for balconies, terraces and roofs. It is a self-adhesive sheet made of elastomeric bitumen with a plastic foil top. It is straightforward to use and versatile as it is easy to cut to size.
To prevent trips and slips on flat roofs used for maintenance, we would suggest Watco Walkway Matting, as it has an open grid structure which is self-draining and provides excellent slip resistance. It will withstand hurricane force winds.
