Thornton Sports Sponsor ''School of the Year'' Award at the Hyndburn Sports Awards

Thornton Sports were honoured to be involved in the Hyndburn Sports Awards which took place on 19th September at Accrington Town Hall.

Organised by Hyndburn Leisure, the awards are the largest annual celebration of amateur sport in the borough. They pay tribute to those, young and old, that show dedication to perform at the highest level or those who work tirelessly to support individuals or clubs week in, week out, for the love of sport.

The ''School of the Year'' award, sponsored by Thornton Sports, was presented to Accrington Academy by Chris Stephenson. The school were selected to receive the award due to the wide variety of different sports they offer at the school, and their links with other schools within the area.

Chris Stephenson comments,
"We were particularly delighted to present this award to Accrington Academy, having constructed a wide range of external sports facilities for them back in 2011. We also enjoyed meeting the nominees for all of the 10 different award categories. As a leading UK sports surfacing contractor we feel it is important for us to support and encourage sports participation at the community level in our local area."
