BALI South Thames - 24th February - Building a SkyGarden

Our next event is on Tuesday 24th February at Merrist Wood.

John Melmoe from the multi Award winning Willerby Landscpes, has generously agreed to talk about their experiences building a Sky Garden 35 floors up on the Walkie Talkie building on Fenchurch Street in the City. The new garden is open to the public if you book on line and we plan to arrange a vist sometime after this talk. However it is quite feat in Landscaping terms - in the plant supply and installation, Gillespies are the Landscape Architects.

Willerbys are amongst the best Landscapers in the UK, with strong attention to detail and have a vast heritage of successful work including the Olympic Park and Chelsea Gardens.

There were divergent and passionate views expressed by Landscape Architects, ecologists and garden designers on the way forward for sustainable horticultural development with one speaker - Mary Reynolds - predicting that "nature is being pushed to the edge of ecosystem collapse" and that "our gardens have become nature’s last stand".
