UK Cosmetic & Perfumery Retailers Association - Annual Awards

The UK Cosmetic & Perfumery Retailers Association (COPRA) hosted its annual awards ceremony this week at the Dorchester Hotel in London.

COPRA acts as a voice for the development and well-being of retailing in cosmetics and perfumery in the UK. COPRA awarded OPI’s Infinite Shine Range with the title of Best New Nail Care Product/Range, coming out on top against Nails Inc. Gel Effect Polish and Christian Louboutin’s Scarabee Nail Colour.

The awards highlighted a successful year for the UK beauty industry, which has grown 5% in the past year to £4bn, and is bigger than the French beauty market for the first time ever.

Rakesh Aggarwal, COPRA vice chairman, comments: “It has been an exciting year for COPRA and the beauty industry. Total beauty sales for 2015 were £4bn, with the prestige, luxury beauty market accounting for £2.4bn − up £110m on 2014. “The success of the past year is down to some amazing new product launches, innovative new make-up lines, cutting edge skincare, and sensuous new fragrances. “The market is also very driven on price and we are offering great value to consumers which has further driven sales − it has been shown that UK retailers offer the most generous discounts of the whole of Europe.”

The UK market is now twice the size of the Italian and Spanish beauty markets, and only Germany is bigger in Europe.
