The J4F − a Heavy Duty Joystick with safety electronics from elobau

The J4F from elobau is a robust dual axis joystick with integrated functional safety electronics.



It has been designed for the operation of control functions in off-highway vehicles. The space-saving design of the flange mounted CAN electronic module means it requires minimal installation space in the console. The electronics are completely sealed with an IP67 protection class making it ideal for use outside the cabin and in harsh environmental conditions. The multi-function handle has been ergonomically designed for operator comfort.

Some key features of the joystick are:
  • SIL 2 / PL d compliance with the latest machinery directive
  • Joystick CAN module is robust and sealed to IP67, ideal for outdoor use
  • Extremely space-saving thanks to direct mounting of electronics module on the joystick
  • Simple installation and screw connection from above
  • Highly reliable and long lifetime thanks to contactless reed and Hall effect technology
  • Can withstand very heavy loads (x-/y-axis 2000 N)
  • Handle also available with micro push buttons for use outside of the cabin
  • Various actuation types available: detents, friction brakes
  • Modular construction of the handle enables application-specific modification
  • Ergonomic handle shape ensures fatigue free operation
