How to get Your Home Ready for Autumn

The days are getting shorter and definitely colder, which can only really mean one thing, the bitter months are well on their way!

I have to say, I am looking forward to cosy nights in with a hot chocolate, however nothing really beats being able to put your washing out on the line without having to stress about the rain, am I right?

Now the real question is, how can you get your home ready for Autumn?

Firstly, a cosy home during Autumn is essential, there’s nothing worse than coming in from the cold outside to an even colder inside. From the minute you walk into your home you want to feel warm and snug!

It may be a good idea to introduce some warm tones into your home such as some burnt oranges, reds and browns, as well as some ivory for some light accents. Walking into a place that looks warm will instantly make you feel warmer, especially when coming in from the freezing cold. You can also never go wrong with some light fall-fragranced candles placed around your home, adding some autumnal scents also plays a big part in getting your home ready for the colder months!

We would also recommend you putting in warm white light bulbs as the lighting in your home changing from cool white to warm white really will make a difference with how homey it feels, warm toned lights are something not many people think about but are an absolute must-have in our Autumn home. If you have a fireplace, make this your primary light source for cold evenings. If you have a small niche in your living room, you can transform it into a snug area. Insert a small bench, cover in throws and cushions, and add a mini pendant light.

Adding a chunky, hand-knitted blanket on your sofa and scatter plenty of rich coloured cushions so you can wrap yourself up when watching TV on an evening with a warm drink in hand, doesn’t that just sound like bliss?

Ensure you’ve put on your fluffy bedsheets from now as it’s the time of the year where you can really get tucked up and snuggled in bed and trust me, you will really appreciate those fluffy sheets on a morning when you’re getting up for work − although you may be more inclined to snooze your alarm. Have you got your dressing gown and slippers at the ready? Because these will definitely be lifesavers too when keeping you toasty and warm!
