The resistive method utilizes a device connected to the system under test, while the capacitive method relies on electrostatic induction. T&R Test Equipment has been at the forefront of manufacturing both types of instruments, with their HV testing equipment widely recognized for its reliability and precision.

In line with their commitment to advancing safety standards, T&R Test Equipment has introduced the Dead Break Tester. This cutting-edge solution eliminates the need to expose live conductors during testing, reducing the associated risks. Two variants of the device, the HVD 35/2A for 11kV systems and the HVD 47/2B for 33kV systems, have been meticulously engineered to accurately indicate the status of transformers prior to work, ensuring a much safer testing process.

The Dead Break Tester operates on the same principles as the conventional HVDs from T&R Test Equipment but with a specific focus on transformer testing. These kits come complete with handles and appropriately designed tips for testing at the transformer test point, without the need for exposing live conductors. This advanced technology not only improves safety during transformer testing but also has become the preferred method for many HV organizations worldwide.
