Mufti Day rakes in cash for charities
Swapping office wear for casual clothes has helped generous staff at Marshall-Tufflex raise hundreds of pounds for charity throughout 2009.
On the last Friday of each month, staff at the Hastings-based cable management manufacturers held a ‘Mufti Day’ when, in exchange for coming into work in their own clothes, they make a donation to that months designated charity. This year (2009) those charities have included the British Heart Foundation, RNLI, Poppy Appeal and Comic Relief. In total more than £500 has been donated. The company also supported the national ‘Walk to Work’ week in August, boosting its charity efforts further.Marshall-Tufflex managing director Jim Fletcher is rightly proud of the efforts his staff have made;
“Mufti Day has become a bit of an institution within the company and is keenly supported by all members of staff. Having a dress-down-Friday not only raises much-needed cash for a wide variety of charities, it also boosts team spirit within our offices by making the workplace a little less formal once a month. I am really proud of the massive effort that goes into making Mufti Day such a success and congratulate everyone for their brilliant achievement.”
