Industrial Fans: energy savings of 40%

The problem - This company has many glass furnaces with fans running inefficiently and at high speed causing problems with material fatigue on the impellers and catastrophic breakdowns.

Our solution

After attending site to establish volume and pressure readings, we supplied 4 new 400kW fans (2 operating in series) to produce 20% more pressure for the highest pressure requirement and at the normal operating pressure save them power. As well as reducing the speed to half the original speed eliminating the regular breakdown occurrence.

The result

As well as eliminating breakdowns, the change of fans has resulted in energy savings of around 40%, giving a return on investment in just over one year. We have now completed three furnaces with many more to look at.
