HPS Product Recovery Solutions Completes Edale Skyline Challenge for Local Charity

HPS Product Recovery Solutions, a leading provider of Advanced Liquid Product Recovery (Pigging) Technology, demonstrated their commitment to corporate social responsibility and employee wellbeing on Friday 13th September 2024.

A team of 8 HPS employees took on the Edale Skyline Challenge, a 20-mile hike across the Peak District, conquering notable ascents such as Mam Tor, Win Hill, and Lord’s Seat.

Improving Lives Notts
The hike took place in support of Improving Lives Notts, a charity local to the HPS headquarters in Nottingham, UK. Improving Lives Notts works with local citizens, reducing isolation, improving physical and mental health, and increasing independence and financial security for those living with long-term mental health conditions.

Improving Lives Notts has projects aimed at providing support for people in or leaving secondary mental health services, a befriending service, and they work with older people in the community to ensure they have access to appropriate services and independence.

Directly Benefitting to the Local Community
Jennie Birch, Fundraising & Communications Officer at Improving Lives Notts, says,
“Like all small charities we are experiencing lots of challenges. As other local services have reduced or sadly closed, we have been inundated with new referrals and the Improving Lives team, including our wonderful volunteers, have worked hard to ensure we can meet the needs of local people.
“Therefore, we are extremely grateful to the HPS team for their support and the incredible amount of money raised. It will directly benefit Nottingham residents by helping us to continue to deliver our 1-2-1 support and to keep our social groups free to attend.”

Walk organiser, Kim Spooner, commented,
“Supporting a smaller local charity was important to us as we really want the impact to be felt close to home. As a community-based organisation, Improving Lives Notts was the perfect charity for us. They have a unique insight into the challenges facing our local community and those who use their services, and we know that our donation will be put to good use.”

Challenging
The Edale Skyline Challenge provided a physical and mental challenge to the hikers, who completed the walk in nine hours.

With picturesque views along the way, the biggest challenge for many of the hikers was the walk across Brown Knoll. This mile and a half leg of the walk required intense concentration due to the uneven stone path and potential for taking a peaty bog bath if they strayed!

The team have raised over £850 for Improving Lives Notts, which will all go towards providing the services that Nottingham residents need.
