Rechner’s Pharmadvantage!

Rechner Sensors are integrated and embedded right across the Pharmaceutical industry.

They are used on all types of process system technology plus plant engineering within the industry because they deliver control advantages.

With Pharmaceutical applications, hygienic design is critical in all set-ups. Rechner have over fifty-five years of expertise in the design of suitable hygienic sensors, both in standard and special formats. In addition, they offer a wide selection of certified ATEX probes and sensors, plus Rechner’s knowledge and product range, for Pharmaceutical applications is second to none.

Many pharmaceutical powders have a low dielectric which makes them hard to reliably detect. Rechner though, have the ability to detect even the lowest dielectric media processed in pharmaceutical applications with switched or analogue output sensors and probes.

In addition, by the nature of the many pharmaceutical powders, they can be ATEX rated. Rechner has one of the widest ranges of certified ATEX sensors available on the market today.

Many customers have also taken advantage of the ATEX rated Rechner All-In-One technical advantage which through an encapsulated fuse, eliminates the requirement for a high-cost interface amplifier. As a result, control systems are simplified, installation costs reduced and service is made easier. Available in the successful 26 Series formats, many pharmaceutical clients have utilised this level control sensor solution on their plants.

Pharmaceutical creams and pastes are another issue for level control as they can be, by their nature, both sticky as well as conductive. The Rechner LevelMaster range is the answer to the reliable long-term in-service control of such media. The high surface finish PEEK detection tip can also sustain process temperatures of 100°C as well as 10 Bar directly making them ideal for the most aggressive manufacturing set-up. A further 121°C capability means that CIP and SIP regimes can both be catered for.

Rechner’s range of analogue capacitive as well as inductive sensors are also used for final Pharma packaging content checks. A correctly packed package with multiple blister packed tablet or capsule strips, including instruction leaflet, will have a precise capacitive signature. Rechner analogue non-contact capacitive sensors can be used as a final QA detection check to verify the contents. If the leaflet is missing or even a tablet strip absent, in the finished pack, this will be picked-up. Furthermore, if foil sealed blister strips are included, then a Rechner analogue inductive sensor will identify exactly how many are packed inside any finished and sealed carton.

Another Rechner sensor option, connected to an amplifier with three outputs, can be used in Pharmaceutical checks for the dose levels in phials and fill levels in bottles. Usually mounted in pockets on a conveyor, as each pass the sensor, it assesses the specific values for each output and so can verify for example, bottle present, correct fill height and over fill level with just one set-up.

Some of the latest Rechner sensors even have a dual output, to check two separate settings, such as bottle present as well as the correct fill height, within a single fully integrated sensor.

Fluid leaks in Pharmaceutical production applications can be very dangerous for operatives nearby, due to the possible drug content or chemicals being manufactured. The immediate detection of any leakage of raw materials is therefore essential to prevent any serious workplace issues. In addition, pharmaceutical ingredients can be highly costly so losses must be stopped at once. Rechner have designed a range of leak sensor for this market which will detect tiny leaks in a catchment tray. Many do not even need setting, while powered up they detect the transition as they are being located, and once placed, they automatically set themselves. Even the smallest leak will be detected providing an alert to system diagnostics or to a visual operator warning that a leak has occurred.

So, whatever your own pharmaceutical application, do please call Rechner to discuss how our latest sensors and probes could provide you with a dynamic detection solution which will reduce disruptive and costly stoppages, increase productivity plus raise profit margins.
