Landscape-Led Playground Design and Installation at Parade Gardens, Jersey
We were thrilled to have the opportunity to design, supply, and install an extensive new play space at Parade Gardens, located in St Helier, Jersey. As one of the island’s largest, busiest, and most prominent playgrounds, this site demanded a creative design and a carefully selected mix of play equipment to suit its prestigious setting.
To cater for a wide range of ages, the playground was divided into two distinct areas. The section for older children offers more physically challenging play opportunities, including a climbing net, five-way swing, standing seesaw, embankment slide, jumping pods, and several other exciting features.
For younger visitors, the toddler area was designed with age-appropriate equipment focused on imaginative and active play. This included a central multi-play unit, a hammock, a choice of swings, springers, rope balance walks, and bridges. Together, these elements create a stimulating and varied play experience that encourages repeat visits for many years to come.
The overall design followed a landscape-led approach, making full use of the site’s natural contours, incorporating planting, natural boulders, and a carefully considered mix of surfacing materials. The surfacing combined wet pour rubber, artificial grass, and TigerMulch, providing a rich variety of textures and visual finishes, and contributing significantly to the overall character of the playground.
Working on this project was an absolute pleasure, with a highly enthusiastic and involved client who played an active role throughout the design and installation process. If you’re considering a similar project for your own park or community space, we’d love to help—get in touch with us today!
