Safetell Helps Retailers Strengthen Security as Summer Theft Surges
With UK retail crime at crisis levels, Safetell outlines effective physical security solutions to protect stores, staff, and stock this summer.
UK convenience retailers are facing record-breaking levels of crime, with losses reaching £316 million per year, according to the latest ACS 2025 Crime Report. The report reveals over 6.2 million thefts annually—an average of more than 700 incidents every hour. In July 2024 alone, over 40,000 shoplifting incidents were reported, alongside daily occurrences of verbal abuse toward staff and rising incidents of vandalism, burglary, and ATM theft.
In response to this growing threat, Safetell is urging retailers to review their physical security strategies this summer. Surveillance systems alone are no longer enough. Effective protection requires the right combination of physical security products across vulnerable zones of the premises.
Front of store: Safetell provides automatic doors, security shutters, and reinforced front doors fitted with toughened security glass to act as strong deterrents and secure entry points.
Instore protection: Security counters and SafeShield UL Security Glazing help protect employees and service areas from abuse, theft, and forced entry.
Back of store: LPS-rated Steel Stalwart Doors and integrated access control systems safeguard stockrooms and rear access points.
Cash and asset protection: Solutions include cash drawers, cashier pedestals, bulk transfer units, night pay hatches, and high-security safes for stockrooms or back offices.
Safetell’s layered security approach helps retailers respond to today’s retail crime threats with practical, robust solutions—protecting both business assets and frontline workers.
