Our commitment to sustainability began in 2017, when we started researching alternatives to traditional plastic. By 2018, we had launched initial production using biodegradable plastic enhanced with BioSphere’s additive technology. In January 2020, we made the bold decision to switch 100% of our production to biodegradable plastic seals.

This move positioned Acme Seals as a global leader in sustainable security seal manufacturing.

🔬 How Our Biodegradable Plastic Seals Work

Our biodegradable seals are powered by a proprietary additive from BioSphere Plastic. This additive accelerates the natural breakdown of plastic by:

  • Altering the plastic’s molecular structure to attract microbes.
  • Enabling over 600 types of microorganisms to digest the plastic.
  • Breaking the material down into carbon dioxide, methane, water, and biomass—with no microplastics or toxic residue.

This process ensures complete biodegradation in both landfill and marine environments, unlike oxo-degradable plastics that fragment into harmful microplastics.
