Mesh fencing system at Chelmsford City Racecourse

Chelmsford City Racecourse, a leading venue in Essex for horseracing and public events, recently upgraded its infrastructure with a secure and visually appealing fencing system supplied by Jacksons Fencing. The project aimed to improve site safety, guide pedestrian movement, and enhance the appearance of key boundaries without compromising the open and welcoming character of the venue.

To meet these requirements, Jacksons supplied its EuroGuard® Flatform Medium 656 mesh fencing, installed by Approved Installer Garden Fencing Essex. The fencing was provided in two heights to suit different zones: 1.2 metre high panels were installed in public areas to subtly guide foot traffic while maintaining clear sightlines, and 1.8 metre panels were used to secure the perimeter and restrict access to service zones, equipment stores, and staff-only areas.

EuroGuard® Flatform Medium is a welded mesh system constructed from twin 6mm horizontal wires and a 5mm vertical wire. This 656 mesh configuration offers excellent rigidity and durability, with a flat profile that blends well into modern environments. Its open design provides high levels of visibility, making it ideal for public facing sites where both appearance and security are important.

All panels and gates were finished in a high-quality green powder coating. The architectural grade finish not only softens the fencing visually to complement the racecourse’s rural surroundings but also provides a strong defence against corrosion and wear. This reduces ongoing maintenance needs and contributes to the long term performance of the system.

Tamper-proof fixings were included throughout to safeguard the integrity of the installation and provide reliable, long-term security. These help deter unauthorised interference and protect the integrity of the fence in high traffic and operational areas.

A matching double leaf gate was supplied to provide controlled vehicular access. Fabricated to the same specification as the fence panels, the gate maintained visual consistency and delivered the same level of strength and security.
