Sliding Gate Installation for Ovenden Tipper Services

Ovenden Tipper Services, a leading aggregate supplier and transport contractor in Kent, required a secure and durable perimeter solution for one of its key depots. With a growing fleet and high daily traffic from tipper trucks, delivery vehicles, and plant equipment, the site needed to balance operational efficiency with robust security, particularly to protect high value materials and machinery stored on site.

Jacksons Fencing was appointed to design and install a tailored perimeter system that would meet the depot’s demanding operational and aesthetic requirements. The solution needed to ensure controlled access, withstand the rigours of an industrial environment, and maintain a professional appearance aligned with Ovenden’s brand.

A key challenge was integrating the new fencing and gates without disrupting daily logistics. The site layout required access points to accommodate a range of vehicle sizes, from small vans to articulated lorries, while preserving turning circles and ensuring reliable operation on uneven, dust-prone ground.

Jacksons installed 86.5 metres of 2.4m high EuroGuard® Regular V mesh fencing, powder coated in black RAL 9005 for a sleek, modern finish. The V-pressed profile enhances structural integrity, while the mesh design allows clear visibility for security monitoring without compromising strength.

To manage access, Jacksons supplied and installed:

• 9m wide double leaf Barbican® sliding gate for large vehicle entry, ideal for limited lateral space.
• 6m double leaf swing gate for secondary vehicular access.
• 4.5m single leaf EuroGuard swing gate for light vehicle and pedestrian access.
• 1.2m single leaf EuroGuard swing gate for pedestrian entry.

All gates were colour matched to the fencing, ensuring a cohesive and professional look. The powder coated finish offers long-term resistance to corrosion, UV fading, and abrasion; critical for maintaining visual appeal and performance in a challenging environment.

Installation was carefully phased to avoid disruption, with Jacksons coordinating closely with Ovenden staff to maintain uninterrupted site operations.

The completed system delivers enhanced perimeter security, clearly defined boundaries, and flexible access control. It also reinforces Ovenden’s professional image, supporting both safety and operational efficiency. With a 25 year service life guarantee on the fencing, the site is now future-proofed against rust and aligns with sustainability goals.
