EC2XR partners with SimLab to bring digital twin intelligence to UK manufacturing and built environments

By combining digital twin capture with SimLab’s STAGES and SIM-ON platforms, EC2XR is helping organisations move beyond fragmented project information and disconnected documents toward a shared spatial understanding of their buildings and assets.

The partnership is particularly focused on supporting industrial and manufacturing organisations seeking better visibility of complex facilities, production environments and infrastructure.

Across construction, facilities management and industrial operations, critical information is often spread across emails, drawings, reports and attachments. Teams often spend significant time trying to understand what has changed, what condition a space is in, or how information relates to the physical environment. Without a shared visual reference point, this can lead to unnecessary site visits, slower decision-making and avoidable rework.

Through this collaboration, EC2XR captures high-quality digital twins of facilities and environments, while SimLab provides the platform that turns those models into practical tools for project monitoring, collaboration and building operations.

Using SimLab STAGES, project teams can compare scan data from different points in time side-by-side, making it easier to review progress, track changes and understand how spaces evolve throughout a project. This visual timeline enables teams to quickly identify differences between phases, validate work completed on site and collaborate around a shared understanding of the environment.

With SimLab SIM-ON, the digital twin becomes a visual interface for operational information. Asset data, maintenance records and building information can be accessed directly within the spatial context of the facility, helping operations teams locate, understand and manage assets more efficiently.

Tony Pincham of EC2XR said:

“For years we’ve relied on drawings, reports and emails to explain complex spaces. Digital twins allow people to see the environment and the information together, which dramatically improves understanding. Working with SimLab allows us to move beyond simple virtual tours and deliver tools that support real operational decisions.”

This approach is particularly valuable in complex environments such as manufacturing facilities, construction projects, campuses, venues and operational buildings, where multiple teams need a clear and shared understanding of the same physical space.

Rather than asking stakeholders to piece together meaning from separate files, screenshots and emails, a navigable digital twin provides a shared spatial reference point. Users can explore the environment, review how spaces have changed over time and access relevant information directly within the context of the building.

By working with SimLab, EC2XR is expanding its ability to help organisations across the UK use digital twins not just as visualisations, but as practical tools for project oversight, asset understanding and long-term building operations.
