How do I make my own car window stickers.

Self adhesive labels can be used in a simple and ingenious way to make professional looking car window stickers using your own computer and printer.

It’s a great way to personalize your car, to reflect your humour or to say the things that are important to you.

Your first thought may be that the glue is on the wrong side of the label, because when you stick the label in the window you can only see it from the inside which defeats the point. If you stick clear labels inside then you can see the print from the outside but it is in mirror format and the glue creates a frosted glaze. If you stick the labels outside they soon look tacky and home made.

Well this is how to do it…

Simply design the label you want in MS word, which has a labels package, (search help for “printing labels”) you can insert images, photos, clipart text etc., or adobe or any other package you know. Print out the label onto an A4 sheet of white paper self-adhesive labels.

Now the clever bit … on a flat surface stick the label you have printed onto a second clear label, so that the adhesive of the clear label is stuck to the adhesive of the paper label. The clear label needs to be bigger than the paper label so that you end up with a neat border of the clear adhesive label all round the paper label.

Online Label suppliers like Label Planet have clear labels in stock, as well as the paper labels and coloured labels. You can buy them in small packs of 25 sheets, so you can do stickers for your friends and relatives, or more seriously if you are running a fundraising campaign, you can supply supporters with car stickers.
