The companies have rapidly expanded with Richard Aitken (Seedsmen) Ltd. in 2002 acquiring a 50% share holding in Avoncrop Amenity Products Ltd based in Winkfield (Berkshire) (Later sold in 2017). During 2006 they also purchased Stewart & Company Seedsmen Ltd who have been trading since 1894. Stewarts who were based in Dalkeith in Edinburgh had been a major rival in the sportsturf sector. In 2004 Aitkens Sportsturf purchased the long established company of RE Rushbrooks and Sons Ltd. based in Ipswich. Aitkens now have 19 experienced Technical Sales Representatives. All who have a wide range of experience to offer.
