Kingpin is a safe and simple way of securing emergency exits. Kingpin was developed in consultation with users, Fire Officers and the Fire Service Training College, which concluded that:
- Simplicity is the key to speedy and safe exit in an emergency
- Fire exit doors can be security risks when they are tampered with or used in non-emergencies
- Some types of fire exit devices offer ineffective security, are potentially dangerous due to broken fragments which have the potential to contaminate food handling sites or are difficult to use.
