J&J Franks has been a cornerstone of the waste management and quarry industry for over 80 years, evolving from a small local business into a leading provider of integrated recycling, waste management, and high-quality quarry products. John and Joseph Franks started the business as a haulage company at the start of the 1940’s and in the 1950s, purchased the Betchworth Sand Quarry to provide high quality building sand to the construction industry in the South. The company was acquired by P Crate Ltd in 1963, with the current Managing Director being a third generation P (Peter) Crate.
