LEV Testing
What is LEV?
A dust or fume system is classed as Local Exhaust Ventilation (LEV) if it is used to control or capture airborne releases on, at, or close to the point of emission and then convey them back to a point where they can safely be collected or released. Legal Requirements
Under the Control of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH) legislation
Regulation 7, it is a requirement that exposure of employees to substances hazardous to health be prevented or, if this is not practicable, they should be adequately controlled.
Regulation 9 requires that any control measure taken to comply with regulation 7 must be maintained in an efficient state and working order, be in good repair, and be in a clean condition.
Regulation 9 also states that the employer must ensure thorough examination and testing are carried out every 14 months for LEV plant.
