All premises with basements and sub-ground vault areas must have an effective means of escape in the event of a fire. For many years Luxcrete have enabled clients to conform to statutory building regulations by installing our tested and L.F.E.P.A (London Fire & Emergency Planning Authority) approved fire escape hatches over basement areas. With the high cost for floor space particularly in commercial premises, turn unused cellars and vaults into valuable work areas by fitting a Luxcrete fire escape hatch assembly.
Our hatches can be installed in isolation over existing apertures or incorporated within new Luxcrete pavement lights as direct replacements for old and obsolete cast iron units. When installed, our hatches are effortless to operate with an easy-release catch and powerful gas strut damper springs. Luxcrete fire escape hatches are fabricated from pre-formed mild steel sections with a corrosion protective paint finish as standard, galvinising or zinc sprayed assemblies can also be supplied- refer to our technical department for further details.

Luxcrete is the longest established supplier of glass/ferro-concrete high security cell windows and rooflights. We manufacture a comprehensive range of high security windows and rooflights which are extensively used in police stations, prisons and courts throughout the UK.

Pavement lights can either be supplied pre cast or cast on site by skilled Luxcrete personnel. Pre-casting usually speeds up site installation and allows work to continue even during very cold weather. In situ casting enables larger areas to be formed and is more suitable for accommodating site falls and levels. However, careful consideration must be given to the size and shape of all panels to minimise the possibility of shrinkage. Our technical department is available to provide further advice.
A selection of typical joint and edge details are available and variations are of course possible. The proper design and construction of adjacent structures and finishes by others is essential to avoid the possibility of water bypassing the perimeter seal.
