Applications

Applications

BGB manufacture slip ring assemblies for a wide range of markets and industries. Whilst sub-links off this menu only give an insight into a few, our experience enables us to cater for most rotary applications.

Our core business is the provision of slip ring assemblies for wind turbines. Primary markets include those listed, along with packaging machines, cable bunching / reeling machines, leisure rides and slip ring motors/generators.

Other applications vary from cranes, tethered drones, bow thrusters and rail through to lighting displays and turntables for Hollywood blockbuster film sets!

Construction

Construction

The crane and construction industry are heavy users of rotary applications. Typical usage includes the transfer of power, signal and data, monitoring of strain gauge data, wind speed, power to the winch motors and much more.
BGB understands the pain points and market drivers associated with slip rings in the crane industry:
More ports moving towards automation so the demand for information and ROV is higher
Today's on-demand society, the reduction in downtime is vital. High quality components that are easy to maintain
Modular crane offerings for redundancy to enable quick maintenance, upgrades of lightning, sensor and control equipment
Silver brushes that reduce footprinting and burnout on rings
Lack of time and people to carry out maintenance works
Radar

Radar

Trustworthy and robust contactless fibre optic rotary joints (FORJs) and slip rings are essential for radar systems, which are crucial for the security and safety of airspace, coastlines, military installations, power plants, and major highways.

Rotary Union for Hydraulics

Rotary Union for Hydraulics

Rotary Joints, also known as rotary couplings or Swivels, are a mechanical device used to transfer fluid (usually hydraulic oil) from a stationary system, to a rotary system.

Rotary Joints are used in wind turbines to deliver hydraulic fluid to the blade pitch actuators. Rotary Joints are also used in various industrial and manufacturing processes to transfer fluid.
BGB have designed and manufactured two variants of joint, the "Sealed” type where the chambers are separated with specially designed seals, and the "Hydrostatic” type, that does not require seals between chambers.
