New Zealand Privet Hedge

Griselinia littoralis

Griselinia littoralis hedge also known as New Zealand Privet or New Zealand Broadleaf is an excellent evergreen shrub, with a very close likeness to Common Privet its ideal for forming a dense hedge.

Griselinia hedging plants have small yellow-green flowers which are followed by small purple fruits appearing in mid summer. The soft apple green oval leaves tolerate salt spray better than most hedging plants, making it an excellent choice for coastal gardens.

Common Privet Hedge

Common Privet hedge, also known as Ligustrum ovalifolium is a dense, vigorous evergreen / semi evergreen hedging species. Featuring delicate white flowers in the summer and dark green ovate foliage, this dense hedge has black berries that are a hit with birds and other wildlife.

Due to its pollution tolerance, Ligustrum ovalifolium is excellent for high traffic areas and urban planting and makes an excellent privacy and formal hedge. During hard winters you may find Common Privet will lose some of its leaves but shoots right back in Spring.

Hawthorn Hedge

Hawthorn, Quickthorn, Whitethorn or May Hedging also known as Crataegus monogyna is a popular thorny, deciduous hedging species that provides seasonal interest, with pure white flowers in the spring, followed by attractive green foliage that turns yellow in Autumn that are a hit with birds and other wildlife. Crataegus works well as part of a species rich, mixed native hedge.
