Quick Closing Valve

Quick Closing Valve

A marine quick-closing valve (QCV) is a crucial safety shut-off valve utilised on vessels to immediately halt the flow of flammable or hazardous fluids, such as fuel oil, diesel, or lubricating oil, during a fire or emergency situation. These valves can be operated remotely and are mandated by SOLAS (International Convention for the Safety of Life at Sea) and classification societies within machinery spaces and fuel systems.

Purpose of a Quick-Closing Valve

  • To swiftly isolate fuel and oil tanks during emergencies, for instance, in the event of an engine room fire.
  • To prevent fuel from exacerbating a fire.
  • To safeguard personnel and diminish potential damage.
  • To ensure compliance with maritime safety regulations, including those from the IMO, SOLAS, and classification societies.

We offer a wide selection of Quick Closing Valves from several leading manufacturers. For your specific requirements, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Emerson Kunkle 337 Safety Relief Valve

Emerson Kunkle 337 Safety Relief Valve

The Emerson Kunkle Model 337 safety relief valve is designed to safeguard low to medium pressure, high volume blowers, compressors, conveying systems, and bulk hauling trailers and equipment.

As part of our service, we offer complimentary setting and testing of the valve, along with a pressure test certificate for your peace of mind.

**Key Features:**

- **High Capacity Design:** The large nozzle facilitates an impressive flow rate.
- **Enhanced Performance:** Flat bronze valve seats are precision-lapped for optimal functionality.
- **Easy Adjustability:** The warn ring allows for precise opening with minimal pre-opening or simmer.
- **Alignment Correction:** A pivot mechanism between the disc and spring compensates for misalignment and spring side thrust.
- **Manual Testing Convenience:** The Model 337 features a 'lift-pin' device for straightforward manual testing.
- **Robust Construction:** Comes standard with a bronze nozzle and disc, with optional stainless steel trim available.
- **Thorough Inspection:** Each valve undergoes rigorous testing and inspection for pressure settings and leakage.

FSSCDF - Forward Acting Rupture Discs

FSSCDF - Forward Acting Rupture Discs

The FSSCDF Forward Acting Rupture Discs feature precision micro-scored sections that open in controlled petals, using four, six, or more radial score lines to ensure a clean, reliable opening while minimising the risk of petal separation. This design makes them particularly well suited for high burst pressure applications and for systems operating under cycling or pulsating conditions with gases or liquids, without compromising safety margins.

These discs respond to overpressure within milliseconds, opening fully without fragmentation, and are ideal for protecting safety relief valves. They support an operating-to-burst pressure ratio of up to 85%, offer excellent corrosion resistance, and can be further enhanced with an optional PTFE lining. In many applications, the discs can also withstand full vacuum conditions without additional supports, providing flexible installation options.

Altecnic / Caleffi 309 Series Pressure & Temperature Relief Valve 1/2

Altecnic / Caleffi 309 Series Pressure & Temperature Relief Valve 1/2" 90°C 7 Bar - 309473CST

The Altecnic / Caleffi 309 Pressure & Temperature Relief Valve - 309473CST is designed to effectively control and limit the temperature and pressure of hot water in domestic storage heaters. This essential safety device prevents water temperatures from exceeding 100°C, thereby eliminating the risk of steam formation. When the system reaches predetermined pressure or temperature thresholds, the valve discharges a sufficient amount of water into the atmosphere, ensuring that both temperature and pressure are maintained within safe operating limits. The valve's mechanism operates as follows: - **Temperature Control:** As the temperature in the storage heater rises, the thermostat compound within the temperature sensor, which is submerged in hot water, expands. This expansion causes a thrust pin to move, actuating the obturator and opening the valve. The valve is set to activate at temperatures exceeding 90°C. - **Pressure Control:** When pressure limits are reached, the obturator, which is opposed by a set spring, lifts and fully opens the outlet. The pressure setting is specifically configured according to the maximum allowable pressure within the system. As temperature and pressure subside, the valve automatically re-closes within designated tolerances.
