Smoking ban DVD in production overdrive

27 March 2007

A DVD which tells employers and employees what to do to prepare for the approaching smoking ban is in production overdrive.

With the smoke free legislation due to be implemented in Wales and Northern Ireland in April and the July 1st deadline looming for England, Safety Media have a seen a surge in orders of the instructional DVD as companies begin to plan for the smoking ban.

Safety Media Managing Director Julian Roberts “Safety Media recognised the problems which could be faced as companies prepare to comply with the new legislation – and so we produced our DVD ‘Smoking Ban – The Facts’.

“It advises both the employer and the employee on how the new legislation will affect themselves and their organisation. The DVD highlights the need for good planning and consultation for a successful transfer to a smoke-free environment”.

The DVD (£129 plus P&P and VAT) covers:

  • How to ensure the correct no smoking signage is placed around the workplace
  • What steps to take to ensure that staff, customers and visitors are aware of the law and so they don’t smoke on the premises
  • How to develop and implement a smoke-free policy
  • The benefits to the employer of implementing a policy including lowering insurance premiums, lowering cleaning/maintenance costs and reducing the risk of fire.
  • Guidance for employees on the health benefits of a smoke-free environment.
