Markeaton Park Creates Waves of Success for Proludic
Play equipment specialists, Proludic, has had great success with its innovative Markeaton Park exclusive ‘Ship’ project.
The play specialist, based in Nottingham, was appointed by the Derby City Council at Markeaton Park to create a ‘wow’ factor for the city’s most prominent area − as the park is the most popular in the East Midlands. The Council was particularly impressed with Proludic’s innovative and bespoke design skills.Proludic designed a play park concept that was tailor-made to the Markeaton Park, as it continued the running theme of water design that surrounds the area. The design includes a fully inclusive Play Ship drop anchor − which is a fully inclusive play area in the style of a ship,
In the development stage, Proludic liaised with both the council and wider community to ensure that the design and installation would be suitable for all − including a wide range of abilities. This meant that a tube slide, play panels and low level netting was included within the designs − guaranteeing a full range of exciting play experiences for everyone to enjoy.
The Ship has now been successfully installed − and it is completely unique to Markeaton Park. The Ship offers a fantastic range of play activities, including access to and from the top deck of the ship for children in wheelchairs via a new footpath as well as, climbing, sliding, role-play and activity panels with different levels of challenge.
Councillor Marton Repton, from Derby City Council, commented on the Proludic project, “The Ship project is excellent for children of all abilities and ages in Derby, to enjoy exciting and imaginative play equipment right in the heart of our much-loved and much-used Markeaton Park.”
Managing director at Proludic, Michael Hoenigmann, commented on the installation, saying, “I am extremely proud of the Proludic team for their work with Markeaton Park, it’s great to see the finished product has been such a success. It was also fantastic to be selected by Derby City Council due to our bespoke and innovative design specialisms. We very much hope that the local community in Derby enjoys the new Ship.”
