New Swiss foreign minister takes office

Incumbent Swiss foreign minister Didier BURKHALTER had announced on 14 June 2017 that he intended to stand down at the end of October.

Ignazio CASSIS was named to replace Burkhalter and took office on 1 November. Cassis, like Burkhalter, is a member of the Free Democratic Party − The Liberals.
