Eco friendly solutions for schools

After an unseasonably warm autumn followed by ice-cold winter temperatures global warming remains a hot topic.

The sheer variation in UK weather means that more schools are taking advantage of grants and funding to secure solutions to provide pupils with shade from the sun and shelter from the elements in equal proportions. This has lead to a huge increase in interest for UK company Able Canopies, who specialise in the design and manufacture of bespoke outdoor cover systems and cycle shelters for schools.

Able Canopies' newly launched innovative range of eco-friendly solutions includes aesthetically pleasing timber cycle shelters in cedar wood with a sedum matted grass 'living' roof. Sedum is not grass, so you never need to mow it − it just needs a bit of weeding occasionally. The results are amazing, and the roof will blend so well into the landscape that it will be a talking point amongst pupils and visitors.

Designed by an award-winning architect, Able Canopies' timber shelters combine a complementary blend of impressive architectural features including hidden steel fixings for structural strength and sustainable red cedar or treated soft wood acquired from an FSC accredited timber merchant. As well as sedum matting, the highly durable roof can be constructed in slate or tile effect.

This innovative company manages the whole process including bespoke design, manufacture and installation and offers comprehensive guarantees.
