In order to enhance Marbocote’s impressive reputation of quality services since 2001, the company planned to modernise their Technical and R&D facilities.

The brief

In March 2019, Marbocote tasked Innova with designing innovative solutions for their R&D and Technical laboratories, focusing on maximising space and creating more practical, efficient working environments.

This upgrade was aimed at further enhancing their capabilities, ensuring they remain at the forefront of innovation, and continue to meet the evolving needs of their clients with cutting-edge solutions.

By collaborating closely with their scientists, the lab designs were tailored with their workflows and processes, resulting in space efficient practical layouts that meet the needs of a modern 21st century workspace.

The solution

Innova provided a part turnkey solution for the technical laboratory refurbishment, which included an electrical upgrade, installation of new fume cupboard and introduction of nitrogen gas into room from nearby bottled supply.

The lab design features an island workbench in the centre of the room with an extendable plymovent extraction vent above. This creates a pragmatic focal point as the workspace is accessible from all sides of the room with adequate circulatory space. The rest of the workspaces, along with the new fume cupboard were installed around the perimeter of the lab, minimising hazards and clutter.

Plenty of storage has been accommodated around the perimeter including double, single cupboards and drawer units, helping to keep an organised and safe environment . Open shelving gives easy access to a variety of chemicals and equipment frequently being used.

Trespa TopLab worktops provide long lasting chemical, scratch and wear resistance properties, perfect for a laboratory environment.
