What’s New - Cantilever Cocktail Masterclass

Last month the team headed off to London to take part in a Cocktail Masterclass at the world renowned 'European Bartender School’. We had a fantastic day out learning the key points to what makes a cocktail great, and the skills required to make a fantastic bartender.

As bar designers we think it is so important to keep up to date with the industry trends, and make sure we have first hand experience behind the bar. Over the next couple of weeks we will be posting on our Instagram and LinkedIn our key takeaways from each of the team so keep an eye out!

Topic Of The Month - What makes a great cocktail

At our cocktail masterclass at The European Bartender School we learnt that there are 5 key elements behind making a great cocktail. These are:

Strong
Weak
Acid
Sweet
Flavour

Take a classic Mojito for example. This has:

Rum for the ‘Strong’ element
Lime for the ‘Weak’ and ‘Acid’ elements
Sugar for the ‘Sweet’ element
Mint for the ‘Flavour’ element

Every great cocktail will make sure these key elements are incorporated, but also most importantly at the right ratio for a perfectly balanced drink.

Of course there is much more to this such as the quality of the ingredients, the right ice, correct techniques, impressive presentation and having the right tools to use!

We focus on the bar operations, striving to design bars that aid the bartender, enhancing their skill behind the bar and hopefully resulting in a great cocktail being served to the customer every time.

Project Focus - Dishoom Canary Wharf, London

Whilst in London, our director Jane and designer Cerys took the opportunity to visit one of our favourite clients: Dishoom! Enjoying a drink at Dishoom Canary Wharf (which we completed in October 2022), was a pleasure, especially seeing it still so busy and thriving!
