Revolutionising Logistics: Dual Drive Sectional Door Technology Powers Fradley Park’s Next-Gen Hub

ASSA ABLOY Entrance Systems has equipped Fradley Park’s new logistics hub with the UK’s first Dual Drive sectional overhead doors. These springless, motor-driven doors offer enhanced speed, safety, and energy efficiency, supporting the site's BREEAM ‘Excellent’ and EPC A ratings. Integrated smart technology enables remote monitoring, making operations smoother and more sustainable.

Fradley Park, located in the heart of the UK’s logistics "Golden Triangle" near Lichfield, Staffordshire, has taken a major leap forward in industrial innovation with the installation of the country’s first Crawford OH1142P Dual Drive sectional overhead doors. This cutting-edge technology, delivered by ASSA ABLOY Entrance Systems, is central to the development of two high-specification industrial units at Fradley Link, a new phase of the logistics hub.

The project, led by Evans Property Group in collaboration with GMI Construction Group and Kilmartin Plowman & Partners, spans over 280,000 sq ft and includes sustainable features such as solar-ready roofing, EV charging stations, and BREEAM ‘Excellent’ and EPC A ratings.

At the core of the loading bay infrastructure is the OH1142P Dual Drive door, a springless, motor-driven solution designed for speed, safety, and energy efficiency. This innovation eliminates traditional components like springs and cables, reducing maintenance and improving uptime. Integrated with ASSA ABLOY Insight, the doors offer smart connectivity for remote monitoring and service planning.

The larger warehouse, at 204,500 sq ft, features 20 loading bays equipped with dock levellers, mechanical shelters, and the OH1142P doors. The second unit, at 78,500 sq ft, mirrors this high-performance setup, ensuring streamlined operations across the site.

This installation marks a significant milestone for UK logistics, setting new standards in industrial door technology, sustainable warehousing, and smart infrastructure.
