ASSA ABLOY Revolutionises UK Logistics Door Performance

ASSA ABLOY has completed the UK's first installation of its next-generation RT1000 spiral high-speed doors for PRL Logistics, setting a new benchmark for efficiency, security and climate control. Working alongside Fit Out UK, the project combines innovative industrial door technology with advanced safety solutions to improve traffic flow, reduce energy loss and optimise operations across a busy logistics facility.

ASSA ABLOY Entrance Systems has successfully delivered a pioneering industrial door solution for PRL Logistics, becoming the first company to install the innovative RT1000 spiral high-speed doors in the UK. Designed to enhance productivity, environmental control and workplace safety, the project demonstrates how advanced door technology can transform demanding logistics and warehousing operations.

Working in partnership with Fit Out UK, ASSA ABLOY supplied and installed a comprehensive range of industrial doors at PRL Logistics' Rotherham facility. The project was developed to improve movement between existing and newly extended buildings while maintaining high levels of security, operational efficiency and temperature control.

A key feature of the installation is the ASSA ABLOY RT1000 spiral high-speed door. Engineered for intensive industrial environments, the RT1000 delivers rapid opening speeds, smooth operation and exceptional durability. Its innovative spiral-guided design prevents door panel contact during operation, reducing wear while ensuring quieter performance and lower maintenance requirements. This makes it an ideal solution for logistics, warehousing, manufacturing and distribution facilities seeking to maximise throughput and minimise downtime.

To further streamline site operations, the RT1000 doors have been equipped with dual-sided radar activation, enabling seamless, hands-free movement for forklifts, pallet trucks and personnel. The result is faster internal transport, reduced waiting times and improved safety in high-traffic areas.

The installation also includes Crawford OH1042S fast overhead sectional doors, providing efficient access between internal and external operational zones. Complementing these systems, ASSA ABLOY integrated insulated roller shutters and a geared drive fire shutter, delivering effective fire compartmentation, enhanced energy efficiency and full compliance with modern safety standards.

By replacing slower door systems that often remained open during colder months, PRL Logistics can now better regulate internal temperatures, reduce energy consumption and protect valuable goods from external environmental conditions.
