Transformers & Rectifiers Ltd. Reflects on a Milestone Year and Announces Christmas Shutdown

As 2025 draws to a close, Transformers & Rectifiers Ltd. is pleased to reflect on a year marked by strong performance, major project successes, and continued global engagement across the power and electrical industries.

This year has showcased the strength, expertise, and resilience of our organisation as we delivered bespoke transformer and rectifier solutions to customers worldwide, while reinforcing partnerships through industry events, technical collaboration, and international outreach.

A Year of Successful Project Delivery

Throughout 2025, T&R successfully completed a wide range of technically demanding and strategically important projects, including:

6.5 MW Transformer Rectifier Units

Designed and built to meet stringent performance and reliability requirements, these units represent our continued leadership in large-scale rectifier systems. Their delivery further strengthens our position within the heavy industrial and high-power sectors.

Three-Phase Hermetically Sealed Transformers for Malaysia

A series of copper-wound, hermetically sealed transformers—engineered for outdoor duty and reliable operation in challenging climates—were completed and dispatched to Malaysia. These units highlight our capability to tailor high-quality solutions for global markets.

Transformer Replacement Project with No Site Modifications

One of the year’s most technically intricate projects involved replacing an ageing transformer with a custom-built unit without altering the existing site layout. Through careful engineering, bespoke cable box design, and precise dimensional control, our team delivered a seamless upgrade that met all client requirements.

2.5 MVA Shore to Ship Power Supply

Supporting cleaner, safer, and more efficient port operations, our 2.5 MVA shore-to-ship system was completed and deployed. Capable of delivering stable power to vessels while berthed, the system reduces emissions, enhances safety, and benefits both commercial and industrial ports.

Earthing Transformers for Dublin Substation Development

T&R manufactured and supplied earthing transformers for a major substation project in Dublin, Ireland—supporting grid stability, network protection, and long-term infrastructure resilience.

Together, these projects demonstrate T&R’s commitment to quality, technical excellence, and the delivery of bespoke engineered solutions that meet diverse operational requirements across the UK and internationally.

A Strong Global Presence

2025 also saw T&R strengthen its visibility across international markets. Key activities included:

Asia Pacific Rail 2025

We engaged with industry leaders, operators, and infrastructure specialists at one of the region’s most influential rail events, reinforcing T&R’s established presence within the traction power sector.

Visit to the University of Nottingham’s Power Electronics, Machines and Control Research Institute (PEMC)

Our team participated in productive discussions on innovation, future technologies, and research collaboration, further aligning ourselves with cutting-edge developments in power engineering.

South East Asia Tour

This year’s regional tour allowed T&R to meet customers, engage with partners, and present our capabilities across Indonesia, Malaysia, Hong Kong, and Singapore. These sessions strengthened relationships and demonstrated growing demand for our bespoke solutions throughout the region.

Christmas Shutdown Period

Please note that Transformers & Rectifiers Ltd. will close for the Christmas period from23 December 2025 to 5 January 2026.Normal operations will resume on Monday, 5 January 2026.
