Why safe drum handling matters in industrial environments

Handling 200-litre drums safely remains a common challenge across manufacturing, logistics, chemical processing and energy sectors.

A full 200-litre drum can weigh well over 200 kg, making manual handling difficult to control and increasing the risk of injury, spills and equipment damage. Authoritative safety guidance notes that industrial drums can weigh up to 350 kg when full, well beyond safe manual handling limits.

For this reason, safe drum handling is not simply an efficiency issue. It is a core part of risk management.

Forklift-mounted drum-handling attachments are commonly used to address this risk. When correctly specified, they securely grip drums without damaging the container, allowing drums to be lifted from floor level or pallets, transported safely across site and placed accurately into storage or processing areas.
